Synopsis:  When Tanisha spills grape juice all over her new dress, her classmate wants to make her feel better, wondering: What does it mean to be kind?

From asking the new girl to play to standing up for someone being bullied, this moving story explores what kindness is, and how any act, big or small, can make a difference―or at least help a friend.

With a gentle text from the award-winning author of Sophie’s Squash, Pat Zietlow Miller, and irresistible art from Jen Hill, Be Kind is an unforgettable story about how two simple words can change the world.

My thoughts…

This was a very endearing book. The text was well written and presented an incredible prevailing question to the audience. It challenged the reader to think and show empathy (I love that!). It even goes a step further by encouraging introspection.

What does it mean to be kind?

Hill’s illustrations were simple and refined. They paired well with the narrative. I appreciate books that teach kids how to be good human beings and show empathy toward others. Teaching these life skills can be challenging but having this book is an asset in your parental arsenal will be helpful. This is a great book to add to your collection.

My rating…
